Voilà bien deux semaines que je bloque sur deux perles musicales. La première c’est MIDLAKE, groupe américain ayant sorti trois albums. J’ai plusieurs années de retard vu que le premier date de 2001 et le deuxième, celui que j’écoute en boucle, (The Trials of Van Occupanther), de 2006. Un mélange de folk et de rock sombre, très belles guitares, claviers envoûtants, voix habitée. Mélodique et lumineux. On pense parfois à Radiohead époque fin 90’s pour les arrangements et le chant.
Ils ont également accompagné John Grant, ex-leader de The Czars sur son poignant album solo The Queen of Denmark sorti en 2010 (merci au passage à Corinne LGT pour me l’avoir fait découvrir ).
La seconde, c’est MEN, le nouveau projet de JD Samson (Le Tigre). Je les ai vus en concert au printemps dernier à Paris pour le festival Les Femmes S’en Mêlent, et j’ai trouvé ça génial. Je peux écouter leur morceau Credit Card Babie$ dix fois d’affilée avec une furieuse envie de danser.

Il y a trois ans, quand on m’a commandé une berceuse pour la compilation Have a good night 3 (j’avais déjà participé à la précédente avec Go back to sleep), j’ai naturellement pensé au petit Lucien, le fils d’une de mes amies les plus proches. Il venait tout juste de naître quand je me suis mise à composer le morceau.
Aujourd’hui, Lucien a trois ans, marche, parle, et s’apprête à rentrer à l’école. Joyeux anniversaire Lucien !

J’ai tellement ri en lisant la section Des phrases et des phrases de KATEL - qui au passage vient de sortir un magnifique deuxième album et avec qui je jouerai, accompagnée par Bob, à Marseille le 22 mai prochain - que je lui ai piqué l’idée. Je ne sais pas si j’en ferai une page à part mais en attendant, voici un florilège de ces phrases un jour entendues, lues….
Vous pouvez pas faire du rock. Pour faire du rock, faut être trois minimum.
Mais pourquoi vous faites pas la première partie de Pascale Picard ?
Je sais pas comment vous faites pour chanter pendant une heure. C’est courageux, moi au bout d’une chanson, j’ai mal à la gorge.
